Leaf cutter ants feed exclusively on fungus and live only within their colony. They come in various sized castes to carry out several functions that are to be performed in the colony.
Ants that have a sac of poison are known as the fire ant. Their “poison” is known as piperidine alkaloids.
Lastly, one of the largest and most primeval types of ants are the Australian bulldog ants. Being of a primitive type, they have only 1 chromosome.
